Yucca decipiens
More Info
Common name: Palm Soapwort
A large tree Yucca native to the Central Mexican High Plateau, where it is found on the fringes of the Chihuahuan Desert on rocky slopes between 1700 and 2700 m elevation. It eventually produces a sturdy trunk with a massive base, usually profusely branching in old trees. The very stiff, dull green leaves form a dense crown. It is similar to Yucca filifera but can easily be distinguished by its upright, rather than drooping inflorescence. Very slow growing Yucca compared to similar closely related species like Yucca filifera and Yucca potosina.
