Trachycarpus sp. Nujiang aka Nova
More Info
A fast growing form of Trachycarpus, both parents were grown from seed collected near the stone gate in China, close to where T. princeps grow.
Given the name sp. Nujiang in 2022 by RHS taxonomist David John the name is derived from where the palm came from near the angry river (Nujiang in China).
Similar to T. fortunei is many respects but has a slimmer trunk, elongated petioles giving it a more tropical look. As a juvenile palm it seems to be less hardy than fortunei. It doesn’t do well in strong wind!
Hardy to at least -10c once established
All plants will come with a plant passport and will be available in the UK only.
