More Info
Common name: Thorn Crested Agave
Also knows as A. lophantha Quadricolor it is a stunning small-medium size species, which has got a solitary succulent rosette, not taller than 40 cm, and 60 cm wide. It is named after its characteristic leaves, which are variegated in four, distinct colours. It is easy-to-grow. Like other Agaves, it needs a very well-drained soil; it does well in light shade to full sun, and enjoys lots of water in the summer months . A good amount of water and fertilizer will help this plant to grow faster. During winter, only water enough to avoid shrivelling. It will produce a satisfying amount of pups that can be detached and grown on as new plants. It’s another one that is surprisingly cold hardy especially if kept dry in winter.
