Common Name: Spanish bayonet

 

A species tree Yucca that seems to be one of the faster growing Yucca that can be grown in the UK, and has broad green leaves with sharp tips and forms a trunk of around 8-12cm diameter after 5-6 years after planting.

Once mature it will produce bell-shaped white or purple-tinged flowers 8cm across in a terminal panicle, at which point the crown often splits to produce a multi-headed plant.

  • Position/Aspect  Full to half sun and requires free draining soil, will do OK in a pot for several years.
